The CooperMorgan Dance Theatre – Jacksonville Summer Intensive start Monday, June 12th at The Performers Academy. This 3-week summer intensive allows ages 8 and older to train alongside local and guest artists.

This year’s star-studded line-up includes Co-Artistic Directors and Founders DeWitt Cooper III and Savery MorganBrandi Carwile of Ballethnic Dance Company, Levi Marsman of Alvin Ailey II, Emily Fine-Hayasaki formerly of Oklahoma City Ballet, Cathy Finne of Studio 1014, Hilly Bodin of Company XIV and international freelance choreographers, Christopher Huggins of Philadanco! The Philadelphia Dance Company, J-Da Danielle Williams of Rare Breed Dance Project, Christa Fatoumata Sylla of Nan Nkama Pan-African Drum and Dance Ensemble, Tyrone Brooks, Artistic Director of Tallahassee Ballet & Michael Alonzo Brown, CooperMorgan Dance Theatre manager & instructor and Kris Danley, CooperMorgan Dance principal dancer.

Attendees will participate in a daily technique class teaching a variety of styles including ballet, composition, modern, jazz, contemporary, pointe, repertoire, placement & conditioning and choreography. Level placement will be made during the first week of classes and culminates with a full-stage production along with professional dancers at the annual CooperMorgan Dance Gala.  No audition is required.


A one-week summer intensive commences on July 24 in will also be held in Tallahassee, Florida at Theatre TCC during the hours of 9am to 4:30pm. This year’s staff includes Co-Artistic Directors and Founders DeWitt Cooper III,  Michael Alonzo Brown, CooperMorgan Dance Theatre manager & instructor J’royce Jata, choreographer, dancer & actor, and Kris Danley, CooperMorgan Dance principal dancer.

 Attendees will participate in a daily technique class teaching a variety of styles including ballet, jazz & contemporary modern dance. The final showcase and full-stage production will be held at Theatre TCC. The cost for the Tallahassee Summer Intensive is $100. No audition is required.

Limited scholarships are available for students in Duval and surrounding counties (Clay, St. Johns, Nassau & Baker).  To be eligible, complete the 2017 Merit Scholarship Packet and bring it to the audition on April 23, 2017.
